How do I Obtain DrivingLicense? 

Requirements:

• Must hold a valid Learner License.
• Candidate should be at least 17 years and above by age for Light Vehicle and Two wheelers .
• Candidate should be at least 21 years and above by age for Medium and Heavy Vehicle.
• CID card copy.
• Undergo theoretical and practical driving tests.
• Fill up an application form 
• One number passport size photograph.
• Attend the One day Refresher Course as per the following schedule for the Thimphu regional office:
• Learner License will be issued only after the candidate attends the refresher course for which the documents may be submitted before attending the course.

How long will it take to obtain a driving license?

If you are based in Thimphu,Pheuntsholing,Gelephu or Samdrup Jongkhar,you can obtain it in  3 working days.For other places,it may take a minimum of 7 days.

What is the validity of Driving License?

A driving license is valid 5 or 10 years.

How do I obtain the Professional Driving (PD) License?

Requirements:

• Must be a Bhutanese
• Must have held Light vehicle license for Two years to apply for Taxi license.
• Must undergo a 3 days refresher course.
• Age Limit of 25 years and above in case of passenger Bus license.
• Must have studied to atleast Class VI.
• Lincense is issue for Three years.
